On the ranch, there are things we do every evening before calling it a day. Before I turn in, I head out past the corrals and visit with my two horses. It’s set up so they can come and go as they please between the corrals and the big wide spaces. I want them to be available to me while still having the freedom they need to graze and roam around. On this night, I took a drive out to find them. We split a couple of carrots, they grazed, and I scratched their itchy spots and thought about nothing in particular. It’s a sweet way to end my days.
