David lived on the Medano Ranch for several years and is now raising his two sons on Chico Basin Ranch with his wife Tess.

Our good friend, family member, former intern, on the spot comedian and character Jack “Jack-E-Baby” Howick visited Zapata over the weekend. Jack E Baby graduated from college and had a celebration at Zapata before heading to his new job with NOLS, providing re-rations to groups in the field in Wyoming via pack-horse. The pack-trips were one of his favorite things while he was here and now he’ll have a summer full of loading and heading for the mountains.

While Jack was in for the weekend we fit his boots with new spur straps (the straps pictured are mine, but the same style as we made with Jack). The simple, strapless style Duke picked up from living in Mexico was quick to fit and now Jack-E-Baby will be roaming the Wyoming mountains in style. We’re all hoping he’ll remain hooked and stays a fixture near Colorado so we won’t have to travel all the way to Tennessee to see the latest moustache/beard phenomena.
